It’s more late-season warmth ahead for Winnipeg with sunny skies and highs in the mid- to upper-20s.

An upper ridge will build over Manitoba in the coming days, bringing yet more late-season warmth to the region. Temperatures will climb into the mid- to upper-20s over the next few days with plenty of sunshine. Winds will be light today, but moderate southerlies will develop on Tuesday. The wind will pick up to around 40 gusting 60 km/h tomorrow, then ease into the 30–40 km/h range tomorrow night. The wind will stay breezy on Wednesday out of the south at 30 gusting 50 km/h.

Very warm conditions will spread across the southern Prairies on Tuesday.

Overnight lows will also be seasonably mild, dipping down into the 10–15 °C range over the coming nights.

Long Range Outlook

This pattern will begin to break down later this week as a large upper trough begins to swing into the region from the west. The warm weather will linger to the end of the work week, but with an increased chance of showers beginning on Friday. Temperatures will return to near-seasonal values this weekend with a few more chances of showers.

A potent upper-level ridge will bring another hot day to southern Manitoba today. Temperatures will climb up to the 30 °C mark again today with breezy southerly winds near 30 gusting 50 km/h. The region will see plenty of sunshine today despite a bit of cloud building in through the day.

It will be a mild night with a low near 15 °C as the winds ease. A cold front will gradually slide across the Red River Valley overnight, bringing a chance of showers or thunderstorms to the region with it. Most of the activity will likely stay over the western portion of the valley, but a few showers may push eastwards early Thursday. By Thursday morning, Winnipeg will see mostly cloudy skies with a light northwest wind.

Scattered showers and/or thunderstorms will lift northwards through the western Red River Valley along an advancing cold front on Wednesday evening.

The system bringing the unsettled conditions will be tracking eastwards slowly on Thursday, bringing mainly cloudy skies to the region. There will be just a slight chance of an isolated shower or two through the day. Temperatures will be cooler but still well above seasonal averages with a high near 20 °C. The cloud cover should break up on Thursday night as temperatures head to a low near 8 °C.

A ridge of high pressure will bring sun back to the region on Friday. Winnipeg will see light northerly winds and a high near 22 °C. Temperatures will dip to a low near 6 °C on Friday night under mainly clear skies.

Long Range Outlook

The region will see beautiful weather this weekend with highs in the low 20s, partly cloudy skies, and light winds. Lows will sit in the upper single digits. The mild weather will continue into next week.

Scorching Summer Weather Returns

Temperatures in Winnipeg will soar through the first half of the week as summer returns in full force.

A potent upper-level ridge building over the region will bring temperatures well above seasonal values to wrap up September in southern Manitoba. With plenty of sunshine, temperatures will climb from the mid-20s today to near 30 °C on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Rather unusual for late season heat will be that it won’t be overly windy. The city will see southerly winds up to 30 gusting 50 km/h this afternoon that ease overnight, lighter southeast winds for Tuesday, then southerlies back up to 30 gusting 50 km/h on Wednesday.

Temperatures will climb into the 30s across much of southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba on Tuesday.

A cold front pushing towards the region on Wednesday will bring increasing cloudiness to the city through the day. Skies will stay mostly cloudy overnight with a good chance of showers moving through the region overnight into Thursday morning.

Lows over the coming nights will vary from the low teens to upper teens.

Long Range Outlook

While temperatures will cool behind the cold front, above-seasonal warmth will stay right through into next week. Forecasts show the upper ridge pattern breaking down in the second half of next week, bringing a return to more seasonal temperatures and unsettled conditions.

Hot And Smoky in Winnipeg

Winnipeg will see more smoky weather as an upper ridge sends temperatures soaring.

Winnipeg will see several days ahead with highs climbing above 30 °C as a potent upper ridge pushes eastwards across the Prairies. With the upper ridge will come broad subsidence and mainly sunny skies over the next few days.

Unfortunately, Winnipeg will continue to see periods of smoke as well. Conditions will likely be worst today, improve for tomorrow, then degrade a bit again on Wednesday.

Overnight lows will be seasonably warm, though it will be a very warm night on Tuesday night when the warmest air is over the region.

It will stay dry over the next few days, but a few showers or thunderstorms may be possible later Wednesday. A low pressure system will be dropping southwards into the region and may trigger more scattered thunderstorms.

Winnipeg will see a return to seasonal temperatures in the second half of the week with variable cloudiness. There might be a small chance of some showers, but no notable rainfall is likely.
