Today will see temperatures fall from the very mild conditions experienced on the week. High temperatures will be in the upper minus single digits, with a gusty north wind. There is a chance of flurries during the day, particularly in the morning. Unfortunately, even this change in the weather isn’t expected to reveal the sun, as we continue to languish under mainly cloudy skies.

Tuesday

Tuesday

Tuesday will be slightly colder than Monday, but not by much. High temperatures will be around the -10°C mark, with a light north-west wind. The sun should finally come out, making for a mainly sunny day.

Wednesday will see temperatures that are very similar to Tuesday. Highs will once again be near the -10°C mark. Winds will be light, making for a fairly pleasant day. Cloud cover will be variable, with generally a mix of sun and cloud through the day.

Long Range

The long range forecast suggests we’ll see a gradual warming trend as we move towards the weekend. Temperatures will likely move towards the mid minus single digits, which is still above-normal for this time of year. No major arctic blasts are currently in the forecast, allowing our mild December to continue!

Cooling Down for Awhile

Conditions will cool down this week, but temperatures won’t stray that far from normal.

Monday

Monday
10°C / 2°C
Mix of sun and cloud

Today will be a transition day as a cold front moves through southern Manitoba. The front won’t pass through in dramatic fashion, so you probably won’t even notice it. However, it will set up cooler weather for the next few days. Despite the passage of that front, temperatures today will remain above seasonal, with highs near 10C and light winds.

Tuesday

Tuesday
4°C / 0°C
Mainly cloudy with chance of showers or flurries

Tuesday will be a much cooler day in the wake of Monday’s cold front. High temperatures will be in the single digits with a breezy north-west wind. There may be some light showers or even gasp flurries during the day, but accumulations should be minimal.

Wednesday will remain on the cool side with temperatures remaining in the single digits. No precipitation is expected, but skies will likely be mainly cloudy. The wind will be light and from the south or south-east.

Long Range

The long range forecast continues to look good. The NAEFS suggests that above-normal weather will persist into November. So far there is no sign of any significant snowfall in the forecast, which is always a good thing!

Feeling More Like October

This week will feel more like October as temperatures return to more normal values.

A Colorado Low Will Pass to our South on Monday

Today

Monday

Mainly Cloudy
9°C / 4°C

Another Colorado Low system has made its way onto the American Plains today and just like the last one, it will mainly miss Southern Manitoba. Border regions may see a bit of rain from this system, but in general it won’t be much of a factor in our weather. It will keep skies on the cloudy side though, with mainly cloudy conditions expected in most of Southern Manitoba through the day.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday

Mainly Sunny
10°C / 0°C
Wednesday

Mainly cloudy. Chance of Showers.
12°C / 2°C

The Colorado Low will have departed the region by Tuesday, leaving behind sunny skies and seasonal temperatures. The wind will be from the north, but it won’t be terribly strong.

Wednesday may see a bit more rain in Southern Manitoba, as a weak system swings down from the north. Temperatures will be in the
low teens, with more cloud than sun.

Long Range

In the long range models suggest that seasonal to below-seasonal weather will dominate. Based on current forecasts, we’ll likely see some light flurry activity before the month is out, but luckily no major snowstorms are currently in the forecast!
